Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones were extremely close, and he often posted about her on social media. Just days before his death, Ron took to Instagram to share a photo of his daughter alongside playwright and director Stephen Adly Guirgis, once again celebrating her achievements. “Hey! Did reading of some new pages w/some old friends. Like family always,” Ron captioned the snap, adding the word love in all caps at the end along with a few emoji, marking his last Instagram post.

In recent years, Ron and Jasmine’s relationship remained strong, and their love for one another radiated each and every time they shared posts on social media. In February, the two went out for brunch and Ron shared a picture during the outing, calling Jasmine the nickname he has for her in his Instagram caption: “Bird.” In May, she posted a sweet Instagram photo of her “papa.”
