Police are appealing for public help to catch an armed robber who held a knife to the neck of a supermarket worker during a hold-up in the Melbourne store.

The unknown offender armed with a knife approached the worker outside the store at Diggers Rest, in the city’s north-west, at about 8.15pm on Saturday, October 5.

He threatened the victim and dragged him into the store on Glitters Road, before demanding money.

The offender ran away with cash and tripped over while running along Welcome Road.

No one was physically injured.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 175cm tall with a slim build.

He was last seen wearing grey pants, a black windbreaker with a Nike logo and black work boots.

Investigators have released an image and CCTV of a man they believe can help with inquiries.
