A rideshare driver has narrowly escaped injury after he was threatened with a knife in Brisbane‘s south early this morning.
The man had accepted a job on Mains Road at Sunnybank where he picked two men up from a local shopping centre around 12.30am.

But on arrival, the driver was threatened with a knife and told to hand over his keys.

He complied and escaped unharmed after the two men drove off with his Kia Cerato.

About an hour earlier, also on Mains Road, another man was threatened by two men with a knife outside a convenience store.

The offenders demanded the 22-year-old’s keys and wallet but he refused and ran from the scene – leaving his car behind.

He was uninjured, but police found his car tyres deflated when they responded.

Investigators believe both incidents are connected and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.
