Rep. Jerry Nadler naps in Judiciary Committee hearing

He’s for snore and order.

Rep. Jerry Nadler was seen dozing off during a hearing in the House Judiciary Committee.

The viral video clip began whipping around Twitter Wednesday. “Disgrace … sleeping through this,” a low voice off-camera can be heard whispering. “Might want to wake him up.”

The Wednesday hearing focused on edits to a regulatory reform bill before sending it to the full House floor.

Nadler, the top Democrat on the committee, appears blissfully unaware as the proceedings happen around him.

An aide behind the Congressman declines to wake him while moving in and out of the frame.

At one point Nadler’s colleague Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Calif.) takes her seat in front of him and appears completely unfazed by the sleeping man behind her.

After nearly four minutes, Nadler eventually comes to.

“Wakey wakey. Good morning,” soft voices off-camera can be heard saying.

The 75-year-old pol has represented Manhattan in the House since 1992, though he does not maintain an office within his district.

Colleagues of the liberal warhorse say nap time is standard Nadler.

“We’ve done some of our best work in the Judiciary Committee with Mr. Nadler on low power mode,” GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) told The Post.

Critics had a field day on Twitter.

“The more he sleeps the less damage he can do,” tweeted one jokester.

Nadler’s on-the-job zzz’s have long been an open secret among his colleagues, and two House insiders say Nadler’s deterioration played a role in then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to sideline him during former President Trump’s first impeachment hearing in 2019.

Reps for Nadler did not respond to request for comment from The Post.
