Cordingley, 24, was murdered in October 18 as she walked her dog along Wangetti Beach, north of Cairns.
Rajwinder Singh, who worked as a nurse in Innisfail, boarded a plane for India two days after Cordingley was killed, leaving behind his job and family.
He is the prime suspect in her murder.
Australian authorities have worked with the Indian government to secure an extradition order for Singh, which is now in place – but Singh has not yet been found.
Police are hopeful the new $1 million reward will inspire a manhunt to track him down.
