A commuter train hit a car at a railway crossing in Woy Woy, on the NSW Central Coast about 6pm last night.

Remarkably, there were no injuries with the driver believed to have jumped out of the car just in time and passengers on the train uninjured in the collision.

Footage, shared on social media, showed the train hitting the car at high speed and the vehicle being pushed some distance along the rail tracks, shocking onlookers.

It’s believed an international driver was behind the wheel and had made a wrong turn on the railway crossing.

They then abandoned the car as the train approached.

The incident resulted in delays during peak hour, as buses were brought in to replace trains along that stretch, as rail workers came in to clear the tracks.

Train services are now running again.
