Carrie Bickmore made a candid confession after sharing an alarming photo to social media.

The 44-year-old radio star revealed on the Hit Network’s Carrie and Tommy radio show, she is taking antidepressants.

Carrie made the admission while addressing a recent photo she shared to Instagram which showed her red-faced and teary-eyed while looking blankly into the camera.

‘I saw the photo and thought I don’t often post when I’m having a bad day. I thought your Instagram can become a showreel of all the happy stuff but I literally have sad days all the time,’ she explained to her co-host Tommy Little.

‘I’m in a spot where I am finding stuff hard at the moment and I deal with things in different ways,’ Carried admitted.

‘I am seeing a psychologist which I know is not available to everybody… I try and exercise because I feel that really helps my head but trying to do that when you’re feeling crap is really hard.

‘I started taking antidepressants for the first time in my entire life and not that I had anything against them but I had been able to manage before but it got to the point where I realised I can’t do it on my own anymore and I need a helping hand.’

Carrie explained how these changes have ‘made a difference’ and helped her cope with her emotions.

‘The reaction I had to that picture reminded me that days suck for a lot of people. My DMs have been full of people ranging from a bad day at work, a fight with a partner, all the way to tragic things,’ she added.

‘It’s heartbreaking but a reminder you are not alone.’

Carrie shared the confronting photo to her Instagram earlier this month alongside the caption which explained she had sent the image to a friend recently after she had a terrible day.

‘Scrolling through my camera roll this morning I found this photo I’d sent a friend a few months ago when I was having a terrible day and she had checked up on me,’ she began.

‘I don’t often post on the days I feel crap (and there are a lot of them) because I usually go quiet. But I thought it was worth sharing.

Carrie went on to let her followers know that bad times do get better.

‘We all have sad days/weeks/months for so many varied reasons, and if you are having a s*** one, I hope tomorrow is a brighter day. You are not alone,’ she said.

Carrie’s post was soon inundated with comments from her celebrity friends.

‘Luvya Carrie. You’re an inspiration to so many, including me. Always here xx,’ wrote Channel Seven star Larry Emdur.

‘You’re beloved because you’re real,’ wrote entertainment guru Richard Reid.

‘You’re doing a good thing xx,’ added TV veteran Angela Bishop.

Meanwhile, ex-WAG Kyly Clarke, model Megan Gale and singer Tones and I all offered red love heart emojis.

Real Housewives of Sydney star Sally Obermeder, The Bachelor’s Anna Heinrich and comedian Merrick Watts also offered support.
