An Adelaide father has issued a plea for help after the mysterious death of his wealthy son in the Moroccan city of Casablanca.

Al McKenna died suddenly at the age of 47. According to his Moroccan girlfriend, Majda, he suffered a heart attack.

However, the absence of an official death certificate and his swift burial in a Moroccan cemetery just two days after his passing have raised concerns for his family back home in Australia.

“It’s soul destroying … I don’t know where to move, I don’t know what to do,” Al’s father Allan Moorhead said.

Moorhead says he received a video call from Majda on February 22, when she told him about his death in Casablanca. He said he could see Al’s body in the background.

Now, having been given no official cause of death, Moorhead says Majda isn’t cooperating with the family.

“She isn’t answering any phone calls, texts, anything,” he said.

The family suspects McKenna’s wealth may have played a role in his death – he had established himself as a successful entrepreneur, managing three companies in the United Kingdom.

9News does not suggest Majda was involved in McKenna’s death.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it’s investigating, and offering consular support to his family.
