Queenslanders have endured another uncomfortable sleep after temperatures remained in the high 20s overnight, as high humidity levels hit much of the country.

The sunshine state will remain above 30 degrees today but relief is coming on Monday and Tuesday, with a thunderstorm expected to hit most of the state on Monday evening.

It comes as Weatherzone is predicting a dynamic mix of weather next week, with potential for flooding rain, server thunderstorms, temperatures of 45 degrees and tropical cyclones.

“Summer is always a busy time for weather in Australia,” Weatherzone said.

“This is because the summer months are exposed to the year’s most intense and prolonged solar heating, which provides plenty of energy for extreme weather.”

After the rain and storms hit Queensland in the beginning of the week, the wet weather is expected to spread to New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

“There is potential for heavy rain, flooding and severe thunderstorms in northern and eastern Australia from this system, with Queensland likely to see the heaviest accumulated rainfall.”

Here are the temperatures across the capital cities today.

The harbour city is expecting a sunny 29 degrees with light evening winds.

The Victorian capital will hit a cloudy 21 degrees with a 90 per cent chance of rain in the morning but it is expected to clear in the afternoon.
