Dozens of residents living in Cairns spent yesterday filling sandbags ahead of Cyclone Jasper making landfall.

“We are preparing for some rain,” one resident said.

“We will bunker down and wait it out.”

Another resident said they were working hard to get everything they own off the ground, as they lived near a waterway.
