Queensland Premier Steven Miles will extend the trial of 50 cent fares on public transport right across the state, 9News can reveal.

It was one of the state Labor government’s cost-of-living measures put through in the lead up to the election.

The “almost free” fares have been very popular among Queenslanders.

9News can confirm the scheme will be extended but how long it will last remains unknown.

The state will head to the ballot boxes on October 26.
