The director-general of Queensland Health has resigned after days of criticism over his submission to penalise whistleblowers who sound the alarm over the way the health system is being run.
Shaun Drummond has told Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk of his intention to quit.
There was no official announcement – instead, Palaszczuk today revealed he’d gone when 9News asked.
“Let me say that Mr Drummond has done an excellent job as the head of the department Mr Drummond has informed me that it’s his intention to step down from his position,” Palaszczuk said.
Drummond is facing fierce criticism for a submission he made to a public disclosure laws inquiry.
