A Gold Coast family has been left shaken after a terrifying home invasion in broad daylight.
CCTV footage shows a man wearing a high-vis shirt crawling through a smashed glass window to enter the Ormeau home from the backyard yesterday afternoon.
The man could be seen looking through drawers, shelves, bedrooms and the bathroom.
The family said the man filled up three pillowcase slips and a bag full of thousands of dollars worth of items, including laptops and jewellery.
However the scariest moment for them was watching the man run to the kitchen to grab a large knife in a panic after being startled by a noise.
“It wasn’t night time, it wasn’t two o’clock in the morning, we weren’t asleep but it was coming home from school,” the homeowner, who asked to remain anonymous, said.
“It just makes me sick to think, if my kids did come home like they were supposed to at that time, what could have happened?”
The family said police are actively searching for the suspect.
“Hopefully this weekend they will be knocking on his door, I hope that that happens,” the homeowner said.
