A mum, dad and their six-month-old baby have died in a disastrous multi-vehicle collision involving two trucks and a car.

The crash occurred on the Warrego Highway near the rural town of Oakey near Toowoomba, Queensland around 11.20am on Tuesday.

At least four fire and emergency service crews and paramedics are at the crash site.

It’s understood a couple with their six-month-old baby girl were in the car when it crashed head-on with a truck.

Another truck then slammed into both vehicles after the initial collision. 

One of the trucks was forced off the road and rolled on its side.

The two truck drivers have been treated by paramedics at the scene and are in a stable condition. One was taken to a hospital in Toowoomba with a leg injury.

The Warrego Highway near the Oakey Creek Bridge has been closed off by police in both directions. It’s expected to be closed for several hours. 

Motorists have been warned to avoid the area or expect significant delays. 

A Queensland Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: ‘The Forensic Crash Unit is currently at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway near Oakey.

‘The highway is expected to be closed for several hours and police have diversions in place.

‘Investigations are underway.’

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Queensland Fire and Emergency Service and Queensland Ambulance for comment.
