A 54-year old man has died in a devastating suburban Sydney house fire.
Emergency services rushed to a unit at Punchbowl, in the city’s south-west, at 10pm after neighbours raised the alarm.
Police and fire crews arrived to find the Highclere Avenue home already burning and when paramedics reached the occupant he could not be revived.

The man died at the scene.

Police are appealing for help as they investigate the cause of a fatal house fire at Punchbowl in Sydney’s south-west on Saturday night
‘A 54-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene,’ NSW police said in a statement.
They are appealing for anyone who has relevant video, including any from a home security system, to contact Bankstown police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
