Prince William returned to social media Wednesday for the first time since his wife Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis to the world.
The Prince of Wales, 41, broke his social media silence to share a sweet message of support for British soccer player Rachel Daly, who announced her retirement from the sport.
“Thank you for so many unforgettable performances with @Lionesses, @RachelDaly3. Plenty more goals for Villa now! W,” the heir to the throne wrote on X.
As president of the Football Association since 2005, William is known to comment on news surrounding the sport from time to time.
The father of three is a big fan of Aston Villa — something that has seemingly passed onto his 10-year-old son Prince George.
Alongside his message, William re-posted a series of Daly’s photos announcing her retirement.
He signed his message “W” — meaning the note came directly from him.
William uploaded the same statement to his and Princess Kate’s Instagram account.
It’s the first social media post he’s made since news of his wife’s ailing health came to light.
In a prerecorded clip shared on March 22, the Princess of Wales revealed her health woes to the world, saying doctors discovered her cancer during a planned abdominal surgery in January.
Princess Kate noted during her announcement last month that she is now in the early stages of undergoing “a course of preventative chemotherapy”
It’s understood that Middleton decided to share the news with the world that particular day as it was before her and William’s three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, left school for Easter break.
The Post revealed that the Waleses “sugarcoated” her health woes when breaking the news to their youngest son Louis, but had a more “difficult” conversation with George and Charlotte.
As the royal undergoes treatment, her parents, Michael, 74, and Carole Middleton, 69, are stepping in to support their grandchildren during this fraught time.
