A man has been charged after a police pursuit on foot led to a dramatic arrest in the middle of a major Sydney road.
Police used a Taser to subdue the 43-year-old who had allegedly punched a passing driver through his car window on the Princes Highway at Rockdale.
Ahmed Abbas had allegedly been acting aggressively at Hotel Rockdale, threatening patrons with bricks and a knife.
When police were called to the venue about 9.30pm yesterday, Abbas allegedly took off on foot across the Princes Highway.
CCTV shows the moment he sprints down the middle of the six-lane highway as two police officers chase him.
It’s alleged he then kicked a vehicle and punched a man through his car window before police deployed a Taser and arrested him.
Northbound lanes were blocked as he was handcuffed by Rockdale police.
Abbas had no weapons on him and he was charged with assault and resisting arrest.
Abbas was also charged with seven counts of credit card fraud.
Police allege he had spent more than $300,000 on designer goods, including Louis Vuitton.
