Police are searching for a man after four children were approached, in two separate incidents, at a town near Coffs Harbour.

Two girls, both aged 10, were leaving a shop on Lawson Street at Red Rock at about 4pm yesterday afternoon when a man “gestured at them to approach him”.

“The girls ignored the man and walked away,” NSW Police said.

“About 4.45pm, a 9-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy were walking along Park Street, when a man pulled up in a vehicle and spoke to them,” police said.

“The pair ran away before the man reportedly approached and spoke to them again, before they ran off.”

The man was then spotted hiding in bushland at Little Beach about 5.15pm.

Police are searching for a man in his 30s with black hair.

”Police are also seeking to identify the occupants of a vehicle, described as a Grey Toyota Hilux utility with Tasmanian registration K54YU, seen in the area at the time.

“The vehicle is believed to have headed towards the Tweed Heads area later that evening.”

Investigations are ongoing.
