Mystery surrounds a young man’s death at a beach in Adelaide’s southern suburbs after his body was found floating near a popular boat ramp by two children.
The circumstances surrounding the death of the 29-year-old man at O’Sullivan Beach are under investigation.
The man’s body was discovered floating near the boat ramp today by two boys during their school holidays.
Emergency services cordoned off the area shortly after 10:30am, with the SES putting up screens while the man’s body was recovered from the water.
Paramedics were unable to revive the man, who has since been identified as a resident of Christie Downs.
“I was going to go fishing with my mate and then we found around halfway a dead body with a skateboard attached to his legs and it looks like fishing net,” one of the boys said.
“And then we saw his pants and a shirt… and then we called our parents,” the other boy added.
The boys also contacted emergency services.
A skateboard, fishing net, and backpack were removed from the scene as evidence.
Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the man’s death, but at this time do not believe it to be suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
