Police have set up a crime scene at a home in Melbourne's north-west, where the body of a woman was found this afternoon.

The dead woman was found at a house on Ormond Road in Ascot Vale just after 4pm, police said.

The exact cause of her death is yet to be established, but police are treating it as suspicious.
