Queensland police have travelled to India to prepare to take custody of the man accused of murdering Toyah Cordingley.
Rajwinder Singh is expected to be extradited by the end of February.
He will take a direct flight from Delhi to Melbourne before any charges can be laid in Australia.
Singh has been wanted by police since 2018, accused of fleeing the country after the body of Cordingley was found on Wangetti beach in Queensland’s far north.

He was finally found in India in November after Queensland posted a $1 million reward for information.
During extradition hearings, Singh gave a statement making it clear he wanted to return to Australia to fight the charges.
His extradition is court-approved and it is now a matter of government officials signing the paperwork.
