A strike force has been established to investigate the suspicious death of a woman who was found critically injured at Randwick, in Sydney’s east, at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Randwick Street about 7.40am Saturday, following reports of a concern for welfare.
Police from the Eastern Beaches Police Area Command found a 38-year-old woman inside the unit with a severely lacerated arm.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition.
The woman died in hospital yesterday.
Police spoke to a 44-year-old man – known to the woman – at the unit who was then taken to Maroubra Police Station to assist with inquiries.
He has since been released without charge and no arrests have been made.
Detectives from Strike Force Lyndoch are investigating how the woman came to be injured and are asking anyone with information to contact Eastern Beaches Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
