The person was found unresponsive yesterday about 11.30 am, the event’s organisers said in a statement.
“Burning Man’s emergency services personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive individual,” they said.
“Once on scene, life-saving measures were immediately attempted but were unsuccessful.”
The person has been identified by the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office and an investigation into the death has been launched.
Event organisers said they are working with authorities and that the safety and well-being of the community is paramount.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this loss,” they said.
Burning Man, a participative temporary metropolis, began in San Francisco before moving to Nevada in 1990.
The event is known for its display of eclectic artwork, offbeat-themed camps, concerts and other entertainment.
