Authorities were called to high-rise apartment Penny Place, near the Federal Court building in Adelaide’s city centre, just before 9pm yesterday after reports water was sweeping through the floors.

Water was found to be cascading down from the 24th floor, causing “extensive damage” to the building.

Police said firefighters arrived to find several fire hydrants had been deliberately activated, sending flooding throughout the building.

“This is being treated as a deliberate act,” police said.

Metropolitan Fire Service crews began cleaning up of the property with assistance of the SES yesterday.

An investigation is now under way and anyone with information has been urged to contact police or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
