A crime scene has been set up and two people taken to hospital after a house fire on Sydney’s North Shore overnight.

Two people were injured during the blaze at Mycumbene Avenue in East Lindfield, including a man in his 60s who suffered burns to his arm and shoulder as well as smoke inhalation.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

A firefighter also received hospital treatment for minor injuries.

Emergency services were alerted about 1.30am when the blaze began in the garage before spreading to a caravan at the property.

Firefighters were initially concerned people were trapped in the home and entered the house under extreme conditions to do a rapid search of the property.

Police then confirmed all occupants were accounted for.

One resident attempted to douse the fire with a garden hose but was soon overwhelmed by the flames.
