A 36-year-old man was standing next to his car off Mining Street in Bundamba, near Ipswich, about 5.10pm yesterday when he was confronted by the trio, who he is believed to have known.

Police said a fight broke out and the man was stabbed in the stomach and arm.

The man has since been released from Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he spent the night recovering from serious injuries.

Police said the three men fled the scene in a Toyota Kluger with Queensland registration 694XJA, which had been missing since it was stolen from a home in West End last week.

Detectives are investigating the incident and probing whether a screwdriver or small blade had been used in the stabbing.
