According to police, the girl had boarded a bus at Hoppers Crossing railway station about 7.15pm on Sunday, September 11, when a man sat next to her and sexually assaulted her.
Detective Senior Constable Megan Fisher said the victim pushed the offender away from her and managed to flee, running home to her parents and calling police.
“It took her a lot of courage to be able to forcibly remove someone off of her and her to be brave enough to get the person away from her,” Fisher said.
“Nobody catches public transport and expects to be assaulted. It’s vulgar.”
