A sixth teenager has been charged as part of the counter-terrorism operation following the stabbing of a bishop at a Sydney church.

Police today charged a 15-year-old boy with conspiring to prepare a terrorist act, following from his arrest on Wednesday.

NSW Police and the AFP this week arrested seven teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 after a “number of associates” of a 16-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel were identified.

The NSW Joint Counter-Terrorism Team said earlier that it was conducting raids throughout Sydney today as part of the ongoing investigation into the Wakeley alleged terror attack.

Police alleged they all subscribed to a “religiously motivated violent extremist ideology”.

“A number of items were seized as a result of yesterday’s activity, including a significant amount of electronic material,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The 15-year-old who was charged today was refused bail to appear at a children’s court tomorrow.

Out of the seven teenagers who were arrested in the joint operation, six have been charged with a variety of offences.

The seventh was released from custody today without charges.

The 16-year-old who allegedly stabbed Emmanuel has been charged and is still before the courts.

Investigations by a joint-counter terrorism team comprising of members of the AFP, NSW Police, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation and the NSW Crime Commission are ongoing.
