NSW Police said emergency services were called to a property in Tilpa which is 191km south west of Bourke in the state’s far west after a light aircraft reportedly struck power lines and caught on fire about 12.10pm yesterday.

The 52-year-old man who was flying the aircraft died at the scene.

“Officers attached to Central North Police District have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
