A scuba diver has claimed trophy hunting fishers are going to disturbing lengths to catch sharks.
Hunters are then catching the marine predators off beaches where Perth residents swim, she claimed.
”Majority of the time they do not come that close to the shore,” she told host Gary Adshead.
“They’re actually using kayaks to drop them out and using things to weigh them down like concrete.
“People aren’t aware of what’s going on until they see these sharks being pulled in and these people are then put in the media as heroes but really they don’t give a damn about the lives of other beachgoers – it’s for their ego and their Instagram.”
Hills has successfully advocated bans on recreational shark fishing and hunting.

She said she was recently sent a photo of a shark carcass with her named carved into it.
The diver said she upset fishermen after a campaign to prevent helium balloons from being used for shark fishing.
“You can imagine how shocked I was when I received that,” she said.
“I never thought that anyone would actually go that low.”
