A Perth husband and wife have spoken out after they fought off an armed intruder they say was dressed as a ninja and carrying weapons.
The home invasion on New Year’s Eve was caught on camera as the couple tried to restrain the man.

Bloodied and bruised, 64-year-old Teresa Urbaniak can be seen struggling to breathe as her husband holds down the man.

Ninja-style forked weapons can be seen lying on the floor.

“He could kill me – what’s wrong with you?” Teresa’s husband Piotr can be heard saying.

Teresa had taken her dogs for a walk about 10.30pm on Tuesday when she was allegedly set upon.

“He was in all black costume and looked like a ninja,” she said.

“He had a black hood and I think he has some balaclava or mask because I saw only the little eyes, you know, nothing else, and all in black and full with the with the belts and and, you know, the knives.”

She was allegedly punched in the chin and scratched across the chest.

The man ran after her before he was tackled to the ground by her 62-year-old husband.

“I was really scared that he was going to kill me,” Teresa said.

Piotr Urbaniak was also injured as he restrained the man.

“I was fighting for my life because I saw these long, long things. I didn’t know if he’s got a gun,” Piotr said.

Police quickly arrived, dragging the man from the home.

The alleged intruder’s partner was also on the scene trying to calm him down.

“I still feel scared and I could not sleep, and I see all the time when I walk to my house, my corridor, I see that action all the time in my head,” Teresa said.

The 35-year-old man fronted court yesterday accused of aggravated home burglary, assault and carrying weapons.

He is expected to appear before a magistrate tomorrow to apply for bail.
