A man has been left in a critical condition after being struck by a car. 

The 50-year-old pedestrian, from Bowden in Adelaide’s inner-north, was hit by a car on Hawker Street just before 8pm on Monday night. 

The man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in a critical condition on Tuesday. 

The vehicle allegedly left the scene before police arrived. 

Major Crash investigators have processed the crash site. 

Hawker Street was closed between Drayton Street and Gibson Street but has since reopened. 

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any other information that could assist investigators has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
