The body of Dokhotaru, 34, was found in a unit on Norfolk Street, Liverpool, at about 8pm on May 27.

Police had earlier attended the building following a report of distress but were unable to find the unit.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Liverpool City Police Area Command established Strike Force Median to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Detectives flew to Canada last week as part of their investigation into her death, where they met with Dokhotaru's family.
