After a long back and forth, alderpersons finally agreed on setting the minimum riding age to 14.

The original proposed age was 16.

Officials voted on the new proposal at the City Council meeting Monday night, and the approval was unanimous.

Other suburbs like Schaumburg have also recently passed rules requiring riders to be 16 or over.

Hinsdale said it’s issued more than 150 citations after banning children from operating the electric bikes.
