Neighbours have reported hearing an explosion at the house in Narangba, about 30km north of Brisbane, about 3.30am, before hearing someone shouting, ‘Fire’.

The couple who were in the home, who are aged in their 30s, then got their three young children out of the house as it went up in flames.

It is understood none of the children were injured but both parents suffered serious burns.

The man has been to taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Footage from the scene has shown the house was gutted by the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
