Seven packages believed to be full of cocaine have washed up on NSW beaches, sparking a warning from police.

The search for more items continues across beaches stretching from Sydney to Newcastle.

The first, barnacle-encrusted bundle was found about 8pm on Friday at Magenta, on the coastal side of Tuggerah Lake roughly halfway between Sydney and Newcastle.

Police sent the parcel for examination and tonight said presumptive testing showed it contained cocaine.

Another three packages were found in the area after police launched a wide-ranging search yesterday.

Similar parcels turned up at Manly, Avoca and Blacksmiths beaches as officers searched today.

“Investigators are now urging anyone who may have seen parcels similar to that depicted to contact their local police,” police said tonight.

“The packages recovered so far have had significant barnacle growth covering the outer plastic wrapping.

“Police are keen to warn the public against removing or opening any of the packages and, if found, to call triple zero (000) immediately.”

All the packages have been sent for further testing.
