One person is feared dead after a B-double truck smashed into a retirement village in Queensland’s Toowoomba region this afternoon.

Nearby roads were closed and diversions were put in place after the crash on James Street in Newtown at 1.15pm.

Queensland Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“The forensic crash unit is investigating.

“No further information is available at this time.”

James Street is a major road in the Toowoomba region near the Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre.
