A man has died after a multi-car crash in Sydney’s north.

Two cars collided at Pittwater Road, near Vineyard Street, at Monavale about 2.15pm today.

A male driver, believed to be aged in his 70s, was trapped inside a car following the collision and was unable to be revived by paramedics once they removed him, NSW Police said.

His car was pushed off the road and flipped onto its roof.

It’s understood at least two cars were involved in a crash at the Pittwater Road and Vineyard Street intersection at Monavale around 2.30pm today. (Nine)

The driver of the second car has been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for assessment.

Pittwater Road’s northbound lane has been closed as debris from one car remains on the road.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

Anyone with dashcam footage has been urged to contact local police or Crimestoppers.
