Of Course: It Was Arson

At least one of the wildfires currently consuming everything in its path in L.A. County was set by an arsonist, and don’t be surprised to find out that arson and/or electrical wires are responsible for all the fires that are out of control.

Politicians are pointing fingers in every direction except themselves, with (of course) global warming being the ultimate cause. If only America became a poor, socialist country with too little and too unreliable energy, we would achieve a utopia.

The reality, though, is simpler: mentally ill homeless people, poor land management, misplaced budget priorities, and insane DEI-obsessed policies made this disaster inevitable.

California has been prone to wildfires as long as there has been a California. Los Angeles is in a desert, and the Santa Ana winds can turn a campfire or a lightning strike into a conflagration. Brush accumulates, and if it isn’t managed properly, there is no firebreak to prevent the near-unlimited spread of the fire to all surrounding areas.

But preparing for and fighting fires isn’t sexy. There are gay men’s choirs to fund, DEI trainings to hold, lesbians to hire. and posturing about saving Gaia to do. Cleaning up the streets, dealing with the homeless, water management, and all the nuts and bolts of protecting a region are not sexy.

And, of course, you have to consider social justice. There are so many world-historic issues to deal with, and running a city gets in the way of changing the world for the better.

This is how liberals think. Their aspirations are global, while 99% of the problems that people need to be solved are local. When your house is being burned down, your neighborhood going up in smoke, or somebody is pooping on the sidewalk you don’t care about the sexuality of the public servant.

But leftists do.

This was summed up, as Beege wrote, by the attitude of the Assistant Fire Chief of Los Angeles when she blithely said that a man needing to be carried out of a burning home by a lesbian firefighter who is too weak was “in the wrong place.”

It’s not their job to actually save lives or put out dangerous fires; their job is to ensure that the right proportion of each intersectional category is represented in the ranks of the Fire Department.

Politicians like Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom don’t see themselves as careful managers whose job it is to improve the lives of others. They are ideologically and politically ambitious people focused on climbing the ladder, spreading the wealth around to their friends, and attacking global issues they believe are more important than the petty concerns of citizens.

Climate change. Social justice. Net Zero. Imposing socialism. Transnationalism.

If it takes breaking some eggs to make their omelet, so be it.
