The Mets are hot on the heels of the Braves for the third and final National League wild card spot.
It’s a different story on Vegas odds boards.
Despite being separated by just a half-game in the standings heading into Wednesday’s play, oddsmakers are giving Atlanta a much better shot at playing October baseball than the Amazin’s.
The Braves are currently -340 to make the postseason at Caesars Sportsbook, which is easily the best odds of any team vying for the third wild card in the senior circuit.
The Mets are well behind their division rival at +125 as they look to extend their winning streak to seven games against the Red Sox on Wednesday.
It appears to be a race between the Braves and Mets for the last playoff spot.
The Padres and Diamondbacks, who are 3 and 2 1/2 games up, respectively, on the Braves, are both near-locks to make the postseason at -1000 or better.
Further down the board, the Cubs (+1500) and Cardinals (+2000) are long shots to sneak into the playoffs, but it’ll take a big-time hot streak to surpass the Braves and Mets with less than a month to go in the season.
