NYC straphanger arrested after macing ‘disorderly’ man in train station: cops

A straphanger has been arrested for allegedly macing a “disorderly” man inside a Midtown subway station late Tuesday, police said.

Alex Goddard, 31, was inside the 42nd Street-Port Authority subway station around 9:45 p.m. when he got into a dispute with a 50-year-old man, who was started throwing items at passersby while there with pals, authorities said.

Goddard maced the “disorderly” troublemaker, causing him to fall to the floor, cops said.

The older man suffered eye pain and a minor laceration, but refused medical attention, police said.

Goddard was arrested at the scene and charged with reckless endangerment, assault and unlawful possession of a noxious matter, authorities said.

The incident comes after a straphanger choked to death a 30-year-old homeless man, Jordan Neely, after he yelled and threw trash at riders on a Manhattan F train earlier this month.

No charges have been filed in the fatal chokehold, but the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is investigating, and according to sources, could convene a grand jury this week.
