A freelance photographer is severely injured after he was hit in the head with a bottle while filming a fight in New York City’s Washington Square Park as revelers celebrated Pride Sunday.
The injured photographer, who posts on Twitter as @NJEGmedia, was seen bleeding from the skull while receiving aid from cops in footage posted to a fellow photojournalist’s Twitter account.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered he was bleeding from the brain as well, according to the colleague, who remained by his side.

“I’m in the hospital with @NJEGmedia. The doctors just told me he’s bleeding from the brain,” the colleague tweeted.
The victim’s condition is not known at this time.

The incident came as police were on high alert for reports of assaults, stabbings and bottles being thrown in the air following the NYC Pride parade.
