The public has been warned not to approach David Johnson (pictured) who escaped from a NSW jail early on Wednesday morning

Police are still unable to locate a man who escaped from a NSW jail early Wednesday morning and he remains on the run today.

David Johnson, 44, escaped from a minimum security correctional facility in South Nowra, 173km south of Sydney.

Johnson was last seen on The Links Road at about 7.45am and the police are appealing for information to help find him.

He is described as being white, about 185cm (6’1″) tall, with a medium build, brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee-style beard. 

When last seen, he was wearing a black bomber jacket, hi-vis shirt and black trackpants.

Anyone who sees Johnson is urged not to approach him but to call 000 immediately.
