NSW Origin hopeful Spencer Leniu is desperate to make his debut for the Blues in the upcoming series – so much so he tried to return to training this week the day after rupturing a testicle.

The club has since confirmed Leniu won’t play on Friday night against the Roosters.
‘Panthers prop Spencer Leniu has been ruled out after suffering a high impact injury at an opposed training session on Wednesday night,’ the club statement read.
‘The incident resulted in Leniu suffering a ruptured testicle, which required him to undergo surgery at Nepean Hospital.

The front-rower will also need to be cleared by Penrith’s medical staff.
It is understood Leniu is looking at wearing protective gear, just like Cowboys five-eighth Tom Dearden, who suffered the same injury last season.
‘He’s a tough kid,’ North Queensland coach Todd Payten said of Dearden at the time.
‘It was a remarkable effort to finish the game, and the way he played, wow.
‘He was our best player out there.’
