NRL great and former Wallaby Wendell Sailor has been charged over an alleged assault at a bar in Sydney’s CBD.
Witnesses claimed Sailor had been drinking at Pappy’s Bar in Sydney for several hours before an altercation with a group about 11pm yesterday.
The altercation spilled into an alleyway next to the bar where Sailor allegedly committed the assault.
It was claimed that Sailor tried to re-enter the bar and was turned away by the venue’s manager.
He allegedly refused to leave and police were called.
CCTV showed Sailor speaking with police officers before he was arrested.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with five offences including two counts of common assault and one count of offensive behaviour.
He was granted bail and will appear in the Downing Centre Local Court later this month.
