Nine vehicles have been involved in a major crash in Sydney’s Inner West during rush hour on one of the city’s busiest roads.

Emergency services reported that eight cars and a truck were involved in a crash on Parramatta Road at Five Dock just before 5pm today.

NSW Ambulance said there were nine patients assessed at the scene.

Six people have been transported to hospital with minor injuries, paramedics said.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by police.

“All eastbound lanes of Parramatta Road are now closed at Harris Street in Five Dock due to a multiple vehicle crash,” Transport for NSW said.

“Two of four westbound lanes of Parramatta Road remain closed at the crash site.”

The truck driver is currently assisting police with inquiries. 

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
