Residents have slammed the odd signage placed in a local playground by a city council, labelling it as ‘stupid’.
The sign, newly erected at Spencer Park in Newmarket, requests visitors to be mindful of their noise.
‘Users are requested to consider noise levels and disruption generated by use of this facility,’ the sign reads.
Parents were left in disbelief at the message after a photo of it was shared on Facebook, arguing it was baffling to expect young kids to play quietly.

‘I class it as a council joke, so stupid,’ one local wrote.
‘Are three-year-olds reading this and being held accountable? Good grief,’ said another.
‘Construction, lawnmowers and traffic noise is fine. No kids laughing or having fun allowed, even where a playground is provided,’ a third commented.

One resident, however, was pleased with the addition, writing: ‘have you ever heard screaming children at 7am on a Sunday?’
‘Much rather a kid cheerful laughing at 7am rather than roadworks at 11pm,’ another craftily responded.

The ‘popular multi-purpose recreational space’ was recently relocated from Parker Street to near the corner of Edmondstone Street and Vivienne Street in Brisbane’s northwest.
It received upgrades such as a modern playground tower, modern playground equipment and a shade sail.
Councillor Wines and Brisbane City Council have been contacted for comment.
