New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Masters of the Air, Griselda, Expats + More

There’s a whole lot of prestige drama on TV this week, starting with Amazon Prime’s Expats, Nicole Kidman’s latest limited series created by The Farewell‘s director, Lulu Wang. Over on Apple TV+, you can tune in to the first episode of Masters of the Air, the new series produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman, the men responsible for bringing us Band of Brothers and The Pacific. And on Netflix, tune in to Sofia Vergara’s dramatic performance as a real-life queen of the Colombian drug cartels in Griselda.

New on Netflix January 25: Griselda

Sofia Vergara is moving away from her sitcom persona to star in the new Netflix series Griselda, in which she plays one of the most ruthless Colombian drug lords of the late 20th century. Vergara plays Griselda Blanco, a real woman who was dubbed the Cocaine Godmother, who became one of the most crucial figures in the Colombian drug trade starting in the 1970s. The six-episode limited series dropped this week and co-stars Alberto Guerra, Vanessa Ferlito, and Martin Rodriguez.

New on Prime Video January 26: Expats

Nicole Kidman leads the cast of the new Prime Video series Expats, which is based on the Janice Y.K. Lee book The Expatriates. The show revolves around a group of expatriates living in Hong Kong and their tight-knit community which is shaken up by an incident that changes their lives. Ji-young Yoo and Sarayu Blue co-star, and the first two episodes will be available today, January 26.

Masters of the Air is the newest homage to America’s Greatest Generation war heroes and serves as a companion series to Band of Brothers and The Pacific. The series, which stars Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Barry Keoghan and dozens more, follows a group of Air Force bombers who were nicknamed the “Bloody Hundredth” due to the heavy losses it incurred in battle while they were stationed in England during World War II.
