The scam starts with a fake text being sent to customers, telling them to arrange redelivery or modify the delivery of their package.
The text includes a link to a site designed to look identical to the Australia Post website. Users are prompted to enter their personal details, which are then stolen and used by scammers.
Australia Post recommends that customers awaiting packages should download the AusPost app and enable notifications.
They say this is the most secure way to get tracking information and updates on your packages.
Australia Post say they will never call, text or email you asking for personal or financial information, this includes not asking you for passwords, credit card details or account information.

They will never text, email or call you requesting payment.
All delivery payments happen at online checkouts when you place an order, or in person at the post office when you send a package to someone.
Also, AusPost will never send you an email asking you to download a print-off label in order to redeem your package.
