New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: The Great (Season 3), The Mother, STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie + More
Now that you’ve binged Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, it’s time to head over to Hulu for the third season of The Great, that other history-revising show about a queen (this time it’s Catherine, Empress of Russia, played by Elle Fanning) and her volatile husband, Peter (Nicholas Hoult). Over on Netflix, you can check out Jennifer Lopez as a former assassin who gets back in the killing game when the daughter she gave up for adoption gets kidnapped in The Mother. And on Apple TV+, you can check out the new documentary STILL, about TV and film icon Michael J. Fox’s career and life before and after his Parkinson’s diagnosis.
New on Hulu May 12: The Great (Season 3)
Catherine the Great (Elle Fanning) and husband Peter (Nicholas Hoult) have have a seriously tumultuous relationship (I’ve lost count of how many times they’ve plotted to kill or oust one another from power). After the arrival of their newborn, Paul, at the end of season two, it seemed like there could have been some hope for he pair, but then Peter had to go and sleep with Catherine’s mother, who then died by falling out a window. It’s always something with these two! And surely there will be even more this season, you can binge all ten episodes when they drop this Friday.
New on Netflix May 12: The Mother
In the new Netflix movie The Mother, Jennifer Lopez is mother. In every way. And she is not to be messed with. In the film, Lopez’s character who is only referred to as the mother, plays an assassin who gave up her daughter for adoption years earlier. When she learns that the child has been kidnapped, she goes back into kill mode to keep her daughter safe. The stacked cast of this action thriller also includes Joseph Fiennes, Gael García Bernal, and Omari Hardwick.
New on Apple TV+ May 12: STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie
Michael J. Fox was one of the biggest stars of of the 1980s, starring in some of the biggest films and TV shows of the decade, including Family Ties, Back To The Future, and Teen Wolf. And then, in the 1990s, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease which cut short his acting career. In the new Apple TV+ release STILL, Fox reflects on his life and career and reveals how he remains positive in the face of an incurable disease.
